The Université de Moncton (abbreviation U de M ) is a public university in Moncton , New Brunswick , Canada .

The college was founded in 1963 from the merger of the Collège Saint-Joseph (founded in 1864 in Memramcook ), Collège du Sacré-Cœur (founded in Caraquet in 1899 , in Bathurst from 1915 ) and Collège Saint-Louis (founded in 1946 in Edmundston ).

The Université de Moncton is Canada's largest French-speaking university outside of Québec. The university's three locations are in the French-speaking regions of New Brunswick in Edmundston , Shippagan and at the headquarters in Moncton. The university offers around 5,000 students 165 courses, 40 of which lead to a master's degree and doctorate. Areas of study include administration, arts, education, engineering, forestry, law, nursing, nutrition, psychology, science, social work, and others. More than 35 research centers, chairs and institutes are currently active.
