Bathurst is a small town in northern New Brunswick , Canada. It has just under 12,272 inhabitants; their metropolitan area has around 30,424 inhabitants. Bathurst Airport is the second largest in the province with 3409 aircraft movements (2008). The place is named Henry Bathurst, 3rd Earl Bathurst .
Geography and climate
The Bathurst Area metropolitan area includes the towns of Bathurst , Beresford , Petit-Rocher , Nigadou , St. Rousette , Belledune , Green Point , South Teddigush and North Teddigush .
Bathurst is located on Bathurst Harbor , which opens onto Chaleur Bay .
The highest temperature ever measured was 36.5 ° C on July 4, 1983, the lowest in winter -36.1 ° C (December 12, 1976).

Culture and sights
The 19th century post office is a landmark of Bathurst. In 1886 the construction of the Catholic Church Sacred Heart (French: Sacré-Cœur ) began. Its 44 meter high church tower was built in 1896. The church was elevated to the status of a cathedral in 1938 . The structure was built from the surrounding granite.
Sports
The professional junior ice hockey team Acadie-Bathurst Titan has won the Coupe du Président five times .
