The Canadian University of Lethbridge (in English usage U of L ) ( German University of Lethbridge ) was founded in 1967 as the third state university in the province and is located in Lethbridge , Canada . There is also a campus in Calgary and Edmonton .

The main buildings are located along the "Coulee" on the west side of the Oldman River .

history

The history of Lethbridge University begins in 1957 with the establishment of Lethbridge Junior College . It was the first public junior college in Canada to offer a one-year university course. In 1964, the university section of the college began offering two-year courses in social and humanities ( arts ) and natural sciences ( science ). In 1966, Parliament decided to set up a third independent university on the proposal of the Canadian Minister of Education at the time, RH McKinnon . A year later, the University of Lethbridge began regular operations with the Faculties of Arts and Science and Education . The School of Nursing was added in 1980 and the School of Management in 1981 . In 1984 the School of Fine Arts was opened.

In 1994 the number of students reached more than 10,000 students.

The university offers 150 courses and currently has the following faculties:

The Faculty of Arts and Science offers 9 so-called “pre-professional programs” in dentistry, engineering, journalism, law, medicine, nutritional science, optics, social work and veterinary medicine.
