The École polytechnique de Montréal ( abbreviation EPM or PolyMTL ; German  Polytechnic University of Montreal ) is a technical school for mechanical engineering that is affiliated with the University of Montreal . In winter 2011 4.390 students were a undergraduate degree ( undergraduates ) and 1430 for a postgraduate program ( graduates ) enrolled. The college offers 13 engineering degrees , including Québec's first bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering . The faculty has the largest research budget in Québec at $ 56.4 million. Add to this an operating budget of $ 86 million.

The university is committed to sustainable, environmentally friendly development and in 2011 was the first university in Montreal to receive the “Sustainable Campus” certification. The École polytechnique was the first university in Canada to be awarded a LEED certificate by the US Green Building Council for the award-winning green buildings Pierre-Lassonde and Claudette-Mackay-Lassonde, built in 2005.

In 1989 the rampage occurred at the Montréal Polytechnic .
