Joanne Courtney (* 7. March 1989 in Edmonton as Joanne Taylor ) is a Canadian curler . She currently plays second in Rachel Homan's team .

Courtney played on Val Sweeting's team from 2011 to 2014 . In 2014 she took part with this team for the province of Alberta in the Canadian women's championship Tournament of Hearts and won the silver medal after losing to Rachel Homan in the final.

After the end of the 2013/2014 season, she moved to Rachel Homan's team to replace Alison Kreviazuk . In 2017 she won the Tournament of Hearts with the team for the province of Ontario and therefore competed for Canada at the 2017 World Cup together with Rachel Homan, Emma Miskew (third) and Lisa Weagle (lead). After a final victory over the Russian team around Anna Sidorowa , she became world champion. As the first team in the history of the Women's World Cup, they won all 13 games.

After a victory at the Canadian Mixed Doubles Championship, Courtney joined Reid Carruthers at the Curling Mixed Doubles World Championship . She reached the final, but lost to the team from Switzerland ( Martin Rios , Jenny Perret ).

In November 2017, she and Team Homan won the Canadian Roar of the Rings by beating Jennifer Jones' team in the final and represented Canada at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang . After four wins and five defeats, the Canadian team finished sixth and thus missed out on the finals.

Private life

Courtney has a bachelor's degree from the University of Alberta and works as a nurse . She is married to the doctor Mark Courtney.
