Andrew Ebbett (born January 2, 1983 in Vernon , British Columbia ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with SC Bern in the National League since June 2015 .
Career
Andrew Ebbett joined the Salmon Arm Silverbacks in the British Columbia Hockey League in 2001 at the age of 18 . After 84 scorer points - including 45 goals - he moved to Michigan at the beginning of his studies. During his student days, the striker played for the University of Michigan in the National Collegiate Athletic Association for a total of four years before appearing in the American Hockey League for the first time in 2006 .
After two successful years in the AHL, the Canadian got the opportunity to play three games in the National Hockey League for the Anaheim Ducks without ever having been selected in one of the NHL Entry Drafts . At the beginning of the 2007/08 season , Ebbett was signed by the Ducks farm team , the Portland Pirates . Since he could not prevail in the run-up to the 2008/09 season, however, initially with the Ducks, they sent him to their new AHL farm team Iowa Chops before the start of the season . Over the course of the season, the Ducks ordered him to join their NHL team, where he spent most of the season.
For the Anaheim Ducks he completed 51 NHL games and reached 32 scorer points. In October 2009 he was put on the waiver list by the Ducks and signed by the Chicago Blackhawks . After ten games and one goal for the Blackhawks, he was put back on the waiver list. The Minnesota Wild finally elected him on November 21, 2009. In early July 2010, he moved to the Phoenix Coyotes , who used him at the San Antonio Rampage .
On July 1, 2011, Ebbett signed a one-year contract with the Vancouver Canucks . In July 2013 he signed a two-year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins , with the Canadian playing predominantly for their farm team , the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins .
After the 2014/15 season, Ebbett left North America and signed a two-year contract with SC Bern from the Swiss National League A. In the 2015/16 season he won the Swiss championship with Bern. He was sidelined for three months during the season due to a broken tibia that he contracted in October 2015. In December 2016 he won the Spengler Cup with the Canadian selection and was appointed to the “Team of the Tournament”. At the beginning of 2017 he extended his contract with the SCB until 2019.
As part of the 2018 Winter Olympics , Ebbett made his debut for the Canadian national team and won the bronze medal with the selection that competed without NHL players.
With SC Bern, he shaped an era in Swiss ice hockey at the end of the 2010s, which was expressed, among other things, in winning the championship three times.
