Vincent Praplan (born June 10, 1994 in Sierre ) is a Swiss ice hockey player who has been under contract with SC Bern from the National League since May 2019 and plays for them in the position of the center .
Career
As a teenager, Praplan played for HC Sierre and EHC Visp . At the age of 15, the man from Lower Valais left his homeland and moved to EHC Kloten , where he became a junior national player and received his first appearances in the National League A (NLA) during the 2012/13 season . He made an important development step during the 2013/14 season , which he spent with the Canadian club North Bay Battalion in the Ontario Hockey League .
After returning from Canada, Praplan matured in Kloten to become a top performer and national player. He remained a total of four more seasons in Kloten. In March 2018, the Swiss signed an entry contract with the San Jose Sharks from the National Hockey League (NHL). He was not used for the Sharks in the NHL, but was in 27 games for their training team San Jose Barracuda in the American Hockey League on the ice, scoring four goals and twelve assists. In February 2019 he was transferred from the Sharks to the Florida Panthers , but again only used in the AHL (Springfield Thunderbirds).
In May 2019, Praplan signed a four-year contract with SC Bern with a term until the end of the 2022/23 season, which ended his one-year commitment in North America.
International
The striker made his first appearance in the U16 national team for his home country. He completed the ice hockey tournament of the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival 2011 , the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament 2011 and the U20 Junior World Championship in 2014 up to the U20 team . At the European Olympic Winter Youth Festival he was able to win the bronze medal.
In the Swiss senior national team , Praplan made his debut at the Germany Cup in November 2015. As a result, the attacker completed the 2017 World Cup and the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang .
