The North Bay Battalion is a Canadian ice hockey team based in North Bay , Ontario . The team was founded in 1996 as the Brampton Battalion and has been playing under its current name since the 2013/14 season in one of the top three Canadian junior ice hockey leagues, the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).

Brampton Battalion (1996-2013)

The Brampton Battalion was founded on December 3, 1996 as a franchise of the Ontario Hockey League . After a year and a half of preparation, the team began playing in the OHL in the 1998/99 season . After playing in the Western Conference for the first four years, they were assigned to the Eastern Conference following the relocation of the North Bay Centennials to Saginaw , Michigan . In their first year in the Central Division, Brampton won the division title straight away, which they defended in 2006, 2008 and 2009. The greatest achievement for the Brampton Battalion was winning the Bobby Orr Trophy as the winner of the Eastern Conference in the 2008-09 season .

North Bay Battalion (since 2013)

The franchise was relocated to North Bay with the end of the 2012/13 OHL season and renamed the North Bay Battalion. The team was placed like the Brampton Battalion in the Central Division of the Eastern Conference.
