history

Player of the Erie Otters

In 1996 the Niagara Falls Thunder were relocated from Niagara Falls (Ontario) to Erie (Pennsylvania) , where they have since been active in the Ontario Hockey League under the name Erie Otters . After the Otters were eliminated in their first three seasons in the OHL in the first playoff round, they were division winners in the Midwest Division three times in a row between 1999 and 2002. In the 2000/01 season, Erie achieved its greatest success until then, when it received the Hamilton Spectator Trophy as the team with the highest points of the regular season (102 points). In the following season, the Erie Otters reached the final of the J. Ross Robertson Cup for the first time , which they won against the Barrie Colts . In the 2016/17 season, the OHL championship was won again after 15 years.
