Nicholas Palmieri (born July 12, 1989 in Utica , New York ) is an American ice hockey player who was last under contract with HC Bozen in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League .

Career

Palmieri was selected in the Priority Selection of the Ontario Hockey League in the second round in 30th place by the Erie Otters . For the Otters, the striker was active from 2005 to 2008 before he was given to league rivals Belleville Bulls at the beginning of the 2008/09 season . There he finished his fourth and last year in the juniors.

After the American had already been selected in the third round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft in 79th place by the New Jersey Devils , he played for their farm team , the Lowell Devils , in the American Hockey League from the 2009/10 season . For Lowell, he had first completed some games towards the end of the 2007/08 season . After good performance with the Devils, Palmieri was appointed to the NHL New Jersey squad for the first time in January 2010 and played six games. At the beginning of the 2010/11 season , the attacker found himself again in the farm team, which now operated under the name Albany Devils . Since the New Jersey Devils retired early from the playoff race in the current NHL season, Palmieri found himself permanently in the roster of the franchise being rebuilt from February 2011 .

Shortly before the trade deadline , on February 24, 2012, the New Jersey Devils Palmieri, along with Kurtis Foster , Stéphane Veilleux , transferred a second-round vote in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft and a performance-related third-round vote in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft to the Minnesota Wild to sign Marek Židlický . In the course of a transfer deal with the New York Rangers , which Michael Rupp gave to Minnesota Wild, Palmieri returned to the Atlantic Division of the NHL on February 4, 2013 together with Darroll Powe .

The EHC Red Bull Munich from the German Ice Hockey League signed Palmieri on August 28, 2013 and gave him a contract until the end of the 2013/14 season. When this expired, he was initially without a club until the Schwenninger Wild Wings signed him in October 2014.

In October 2015 he was signed by HC Bozen from the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League and one year later he received a contract extension until the end of the 2016/17 season.

International

Palmieri first represented the USA at the 2011 World Cup in Slovakia . He was used in six games, in which he scored two goals and prepared another.
