Career

Stéphane Veilleux in the Minnesota Wild jersey

Stéphane Veilleux began his career as a hockey player in Canada's top junior league, Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec , in which he was active from 1998 to 2001 for the Victoriaville Tigres and the Val-d'Or Foreurs , with the Foreurs in the 2000/01 season won the Coupe du Président as LHJMQ champion. He was then selected in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft in the third round as the 93rd player of the Minnesota Wild .

From 2001 to 2005, the attacker played regularly for their farm team , the Houston Eros from the American Hockey League , with which he won the 2003 Calder Cup . After Veilleux only occasionally ran up for Minnesota in the National Hockey League from 2002 to 2004 , he was only on the ice as a regular player for the Wild from 2005.

After his contract in Minnesota expired in the summer of 2009, he got a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning , for which he scored six points in 77 games. A year later he completed a trial training with the Anaheim Ducks , but was not offered a contract.

In mid-October 2010, Veilleux was signed by the Espoo Blues from the SM-liiga , where he signed for a year. In January 2011 he went to HC Ambrì-Piotta in the National League A and signed a contract there until the end of the season. The attacker then signed a two-way contract for one season with the New Jersey Devils . Shortly before the trade deadline , on February 24, 2012, the New Jersey Devils transferred him to the Minnesota Wild along with Kurtis Foster , Nick Palmieri , a second-round suffrage in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft and a performance-related third-round suffrage in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft to sign Marek Židlický . The French-Canadian finally stayed with the game until summer 2015. In addition to appearances for Minnesota in the NHL, he also came again and again in the AHL to minutes in the course of the three seasons.

In the summer of 2015 he finally moved to the Japanese club Ōji Eagles for the next three years , with whom he competed in the Asia League ice hockey .
