The 2017/18 season was the 15th season of the Asia League Ice Hockey , the highest East Asian ice hockey division . Anyang Halla became champion for the fifth time overall and for the third time in a row .

After China Dragon, the only Chinese team to withdraw from the game, eight teams (four from Japan, three from South Korea and one from the island of Sakhalin in the far east of Russia) took part in the league. In the regular season, each of the eight teams played a total of 28 games. The five best-placed teams of the regular season qualified for the playoffs in which the champions are played out. Each team received three points for a win after regular time, two points for a win after overtime or shootout, one point for a defeat after overtime or shootout and zero points for a defeat after regular time. In the playoffs, the first round was played in the best-of-three format . The semi-finals and the final were held in the best-of-five format, so that three victories were necessary there.

Playoffs
For the first time since 2011, when main round winner Ōji Eagles failed in the semifinals to Anyang Halla , the regular season winner did not reach the playoff final. This time the Eagles were the beneficiaries, beating HK Sakhalin 3-2 in the semi-finals. In the final series, the Eagles lost 3-1 to Anyang Halla. The Koreans became record champions of the Asia League with their fifth championship title.
