The HC Sakhalin ( Russian ХК Сахалин ) is a Russian ice hockey club from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk , in the season since the 2014/15 Asia League Ice Hockey plays.

HK Sakhalin vs. Ōji Eagles (September 2015)

HK Sakhalin was initially founded in 2013 under the name Sakhalin Sea Lions and began playing in the Asia League Ice Hockey in the following year for the 2014/15 season . He was the only Russian club in the league when he joined the league. Previously, the Golden Amur team, also based in the Far East , had already played for one season.

In their debut season, the Sea Lions qualified with 91 points from the regular season straight away for the play-offs and failed there in the semifinals at the eventual master Tōhoku Free Blades . In each of the following two years the playoff final was reached, but it was lost to the Koreans from Anyang Halla in both 2016 and 2017 . In 2018, the team won the main round for the first time, but then lost in the playoff semifinals against the fifth in the main round, the Japanese from the Ōji Eagles .
