The Golden Amur are a former Russian ice hockey club from Khabarovsk , which played in the Asia League Ice Hockey in the 2004/05 season .

history

The Golden Amur were founded in the summer of 2004 and served as the farm team of Amur Khabarovsk from the Russian Super League . The team took part in the 2004/05 season in the Asia League Ice Hockey , founded a year earlier , in which they finished third out of eight participating teams. In the subsequent playoffs, the Russians were defeated by the Seibu Prince Rabbits in the first round with a sweep in the best-of-five series. The ALIH wanted to make the leap to Russia with the inclusion of a Russian club , while Khabarovsk had the opportunity to recruit players from a good quality league. Due to financial problems, the Golden Amur had to stop playing again after just one season.
