Bradley "Brad" Keith Boyes (born April 17, 1982 in Mississauga , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who last played until the summer of 2016 with the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League on the position of the center .
Career
Before Boyes concentrated entirely on hockey, he also played inline hockey very successfully . After he was selected in the OHL - Draft by the Erie Otters , he ended his inline hockey career. The Canadian played with the Otters for a total of four years. During this time Boyes was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2000 by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round in 24th position. During his time in Erie he received numerous awards.
Signed with the start of the 2002/03 season Boyes his first professional contract with the Maple Leafs, but initially it in the AHL - farm team in St. John's inserting. In March 2003 he was transferred to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for Owen Nolan , along with Alyn McCauley and a first-round draft pick . This initially also used him in the AHL with the Cleveland Barons . Boyes spent almost the entire 2003/04 season in the AHL before he played his first NHL game against the Dallas Stars on March 7, 2004 . Two days later, the Canadian and Andy Delmore were handed over to the Boston Bruins , who in return sent Jeff Jillson to San Jose. So Boyes played for the rest of the season and the following, due to the NHL lockout , again in the AHL with the Providence Bruins . In the 2005/06 season he then made his breakthrough in the NHL. He played all 82 games of the season for the Boston Bruins and posted a total of 69 points, which resulted in an appointment to the NHL All-Rookie Team . Boyes also played the 2006/07 season initially in Boston and was given to the St. Louis Blues on February 27, 2007 in exchange for Dennis Wideman . There he found a sporty home after the various changes and received a four-year contract for 16 million US dollars after one year.
On February 28, 2011, just before the trade deadline , the Blues gave him to the Buffalo Sabers in a transfer deal in exchange for a second-round vote in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft . After two disappointing years in sport for the Canadian with the Sabers , he was hired by the New York Islanders as a free agent in the summer of 2012 . In the Islanders' jersey , Boyes was able to build on the previous offensive strength from his station in St. Louis and made 35 points in 48 games in the 2012/13 season, which was shortened by the lockout . In the run-up to the 2013/14 season , the attacker took part in a training camp of the Florida Panthers as part of a trial contract ( try-out contract ) and was then firmly committed in September 2013. After performing well in the past season, his contract was extended by two years in March 2014.
After just one season, however, the Panthers bought him out of his contract (buy-out) , so that from then on he was looking for a new employer as a free agent . He found this in September 2015 when the Toronto Maple Leafs signed him for a year after a successful try-out.
International
Boyes ran in a total of three tournaments for the Canadian national ice hockey team , including two in the junior division. There he won the bronze medal in 2001 and the silver medal in 2002 . In the senior sector, he took part in the 2006 World Cup.
