Career

The 1.85 m tall defender began his career with the North Bay Centennials and the Sarnia Sting in the Canadian Junior League OHL before he was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Philadelphia Flyers in 1997 .

His first NHL missions for the Flyers completed the right-handed shooter in the 1998/99 season , but most of the time he was with the Philadelphia Phantoms , the AHL farm team of the Flyers used. Towards the end of his time in Philadelphia Delmore became a regular player, which he retained during his subsequent engagement with the Nashville Predators . Another NHL station in Delmore were the Buffalo Sabers , who transferred him to the Boston Bruins on March 9, 2004 . This in turn exchanged Delmore on the same day together with Curtis Brown for Jeff Jillson and a nine-round draft pick with the San Jose Sharks , where he was also not used because of the lockout in 2004/05 .

During the lockout, the Canadian played for Adler Mannheim in the DEL . For the 2005/06 season Delmore signed a contract with the Detroit Red Wings , but here too the defensive man was not used and was transferred to the Columbus Blue Jackets in October , who used him most of the time at the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL . In the 2005/06 season, Andy Delmore was awarded the Eddie Shore Award for the AHL's best defender. In the 2006/07 AHL season, the Canadian played for both the Springfield Falcons and the Chicago Wolves, which are part of the Tampa Bay Lightning organization .

In the 2007/08 season Delmore returned to Germany and signed a two-year contract with the Hamburg Freezers . After two years he returned to North America and signed a contract with the Detroit Red Wings, who used him in the farm team, the Grand Rapids Griffins . In March 2010, the Red Wings gave his rights to the Calgary Flames and Delmore played the season at the Abbotsford Heat to an end. For the 2010/11 season Delmore was committed by Lørenskog IK from the GET-ligaen . The following season, the defender began with an engagement at KHL Medveščak Zagreb in the Austrian ice hockey league, in which Delmore was active in the role of assistant captain. In December 2011 he was finally signed by the Italian first division club Ritten Sport .
