Jeffrey Joel Jillson (born July 24, 1980 in North Smithfield , Rhode Island ) is a former American ice hockey player who was last under contract with KLH Chomutov from the Czech 1st division .
Career
In his youth, Jeff Jillson played three years for the high school team at Mount Saint Charles Academy , Rhode Island , before moving to the University of Michigan in 1998 . For the college team, he performed very well as an attacking defender and received several awards. The NHL teams also noticed him and so the San Jose Sharks selected him in the first round of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft in 14th position.
In the summer of 2001 he joined the organization of the San Jose Sharks and played in the 2001/02 season for the AHL - farm team Cleveland Barons , before he was appointed to the NHL squad of the Sharks in the same season. Nevertheless, he could not fully assert himself in the NHL team and found himself partly in the AHL in the following season. In January 2003 he was transferred to the Boston Bruins , who sent him to the Providence Bruins in the AHL for the rest of the season .
The 2003/04 season he then played for the Boston Bruins team in the NHL, before he was given up in March 2004. In an exchange between the Bruins, the San Jose Sharks and the Buffalo Sabers , it was first sent back to the Sharks, who gave it directly to the Sabers. With the Sabers he completed the rest of the season.
Since the 2004/05 NHL season was canceled because of the lockout , Jillson played the season for the Rochester Americans , the farm team of the Sabers, in the AHL. In the fall of 2005, the NHL resumed its gaming operations, but Jillson did not make the jump to the NHL team and completed the season with the Americans. The Sabers brought him twice during the regular season due to personnel shortages in the NHL and four times he was allowed on the ice in the playoffs, but his contract was not renewed.
In autumn 2006 Jillson left North America and signed a contract with the Eisbären Berlin in the German Ice Hockey League . Here Jillson missed it, however, to call up constant performance. In Berlin he was particularly criticized for his overweight and immobility; this resulted in the polar bears not renewing his contract. He therefore moved back to North America to the Colorado Avalanche franchise , where he played for their farm team and was ordered twice in the NHL squad during the season, but without being used. In the summer of 2008 he left the organization of the Avalanche and moved to HK MWD Balaschicha in the Continental Hockey League . Jillson only stayed there for a short time, as he moved to the Finnish SM liiga club Lukko Rauma after a few months .
Between 2009 and 2011 he played for HC Eaton Pardubice in the Extraliga and was Czech champion with Pardubice in 2010 . In May 2011, Jill's contract with Pardubice was terminated. A month later he was signed by KLH Chomutov from the Czech 1st division .
