Connor Brown (born January 14, 1994 in Etobicoke , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Ottawa Senators from the National Hockey League since July 2019 and plays there in the position of right winger .
Career
Brown played as a teenager for the Toronto Marlboros and St. Michael's Buzzers in the province of Ontario until 2011 , before joining the Erie Otters from the Ontario Hockey League via the OHL Priority Selection for the 2011/12 season. There the right winger completed a good rookie season with 53 points and was the best player of his team, which earned him the election to the First All-Rookie Team of the league. He was then selected in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft in the sixth round at 156th position by the Toronto Maple Leafs from the National Hockey League . At the beginning of the 2012/13 season , the attacker led the Otters onto the ice as team captain. He improved this game year to 69 points. In the following season, Brown was by far the best points collector in the entire league with 128 points. He formed a storm line with Dane Fox and Connor McDavid , who were also among the four best scorers. Brown received numerous trophies at the end of the season - the Jim Mahon Memorial Trophy as the right winger with the highest points, the Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy as the best scorer among all players and the Red Tilson Trophy as the most valuable player . Since he was also the best scorer in the entire Canadian Hockey League , he was also awarded the CHL Top Scorer Award .
After completing his junior career , Brown switched to the Toronto Maple Leafs franchise in summer 2014 , which had already provided him with an entry-level contract in November 2013 . However, he spent the entire 2014/15 season on the farm team , the Toronto Marlies , in the American Hockey League . With 61 points he was - as in the OHL - the best player in his team and was appointed to the AHL All-Rookie Team . The striker was also active for the Marlies in the 2015/16 season before he was appointed to the Toronto NHL squad for the first time in mid-March 2016. He established himself there at the beginning of the 2016/17 season and earned himself a regular position. The striker played all of the Maple Leafs' competitive games in the following three seasons before he was transferred to the Ottawa Senators in the Canadian capital at the beginning of July 2019 together with Nikita Saizew and Michael Carcone . In return, they gave Cody Ceci , Ben Harpur , Aaron Luchuk and a third-round vote in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft to Toronto.
