Nicholas "Nick" Paul (born March 20, 1995 in Mississauga , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Ottawa Senators from the National Hockey League since December 2014 and for their farm team , the Belleville Senators , in the American Hockey League plays on the position of the left winger . Paul embodies the power forward player type .
Career
Paul spent the beginning of his junior years with numerous teams in his hometown Mississauga in the province of Ontario . There he played during the 2011/12 season, among other things, with the Mississauga Chargers in the Ontario Junior Hockey League before he played for the Brampton Battalion in the Ontario Hockey League after being elected to the OHL Priority Selection from the beginning of the 2012/13 season . After his rookie season , in which the left winger had collected 28 points scorer , he moved with the franchise and played with the North Bay Battalion for two years at the beginning of the following season . There, the power forward advanced to a reliable scorer and later also to one of the assistant captains . Meanwhile, he was selected in the fourth round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft in 101st place by the Dallas Stars from the National Hockey League , but his transfer rights were given to the Ottawa Senators immediately after the draft in a transfer deal . This brought the eventual winner of the Dan Snyder Memorial Trophy in December of the same year to sign an NHL entry contract .
At the beginning of the 2015/16 season Paul dared the leap into the professional field and he came in the course of the season with both the Ottawa Senators in the NHL and with the farm team Binghamton Senators in the American Hockey League . With the exception of one game, he spent his second professional year in Binghamton, before his NHL stakes increased again from the 2017/18 season, without being able to establish himself permanently in the top North American division. The striker was mainly on the ice with Ottawa's new cooperation partner, the Belleville Senators , in the AHL.
International
For his home country, Paul was part of the Canadian squad at the U20 World Junior Championships in Toronto and Montreal in 2015 . There he won the world title with the Canadian selection, to which he contributed three goals in seven tournament appearances. He scored one of the three goals in the 5-4 final victory over Russia.
