Hillgriet Eilers (born March 7, 1959 in Hinte , East Frisia ) is a German politician of the FDP who has been a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament since 2013.

Life

After graduating from high school in Emden , Eilers studied Sinology and Economics at the University of Göttingen and in Taipei ( Republic of China ). She graduated with a Magister Artium . She received further training at the Goethe Institute for German as a Foreign Language . She then worked as a teacher at universities and institutes. She belongs to the Helene Weber Vocational College ; In 2011 she received the Helene Weber Prize .

In 2000 Eilers joined the FDP. She is the chairwoman of the Ems-Jade district association. In 2001 she moved into the Emden city council for the first time, where she is deputy parliamentary group leader. In 2013 she was elected to the state parliament, in whose presidium she assumed the role of secretary. Eilers is port and shipping policy spokeswoman for the FDP parliamentary group in the Lower Saxony state parliament and represents the parliamentary group in the petitions committee.

Eilers is married and has one daughter.
