The Helene Weber Vocational College is a vocational college in Paderborn .

The name is reminiscent of Helene Weber , one of the four "mothers" of the Basic Law . Together with the Ludwig-Erhard-Berufskolleg and the Richard-von-Weizsäcker-Berufskolleg, it forms the educational center at Maspernplatz, which is attended by around 8,000 students. All three vocational colleges are sponsored by the Paderborn district . Together with the Gregor Mendel vocational college and the Schloss Neuhaus vocational college, these vocational colleges cooperate under a common umbrella brand.

Training preparation

Young people who have not yet found an apprenticeship place can qualify for dual training at the HWB as part of the training preparation and the one-year vocational school through higher school qualifications and / or the professional knowledge acquired. As an alternative, these young people attend vocational-related classes on a part-time basis in order to fulfill their compulsory vocational school in cooperation with offers from independent educational institutions.

Vocational school

The students of the 2-year vocational school can acquire state-certified professional qualifications (nanny, social assistant, assistant for nutrition and care) at the HWB. These qualifications serve as entry requirements for higher-quality training, e.g. B. to educator or nurse and geriatric nurse. Parallel to the vocational qualification, the students acquire the middle school qualification (technical college entrance qualification).

Technical college

The technical college at the HWB, which specializes in health , social affairs and design, is attended by schoolchildren with the aim of obtaining a technical college entrance qualification ("Fachabitur").

Vocational high school

In the vocational high school for health and social affairs, high school graduates acquire the general higher education entrance qualification and can combine the high school diploma course with training as a state-recognized educator or the acquisition of a certificate as a leisure sports director. The profile-building advanced course subject is health, educational science or sport, depending on the focus. The 2nd advanced course subject is always biology.

Technical school

As a further education institution, the HWBK trains qualified daycare staff in the 3-year technical school for social affairs. After the technical school exam, the graduates bear the professional title of “state-approved educator”.

particularities

Hospitality trainees are trained in gastronomic kitchens and in the practice restaurant. Apprenticeship preparation students work in the school break project throughout the school year. They offer all students and teachers lunch and other snacks twice a week. The apprentices at the vocational school for butchers regularly take part in DLG exams with their teaching products. Because of the numerous gold medals it has won, the Helene Weber Vocational College received the State Prize of Honor from the Environment Minister in North Rhine-Westphalia for the fifth time in 2016.
