Calle Peter Erik Andersson (born May 16, 1994 in Malmö ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who has been playing as defender at SC Bern in the National League since the 2016/17 season . His father was Peter and his younger brother Rasmus is also a professional ice hockey player.
Career
Andersson began his career in the junior movement of the Malmö Redhawks , for which he was in use until the 2010/11 season. Then he switched to the offspring of the league competitor Färjestad BK . For Färjestad he made his debut in Sweden's top division, the then Elitserien, in the 2012/13 season . In 2013 he moved back to his home club in Malmö, where he was regularly used in the HockeyAllsvenskan . In addition, he came on two missions for the IK Pantern in Hockeyettan , the third highest division in the country.
After just one season he left the club and moved abroad for the first time in his career. He signed a contract with Swiss club EV train in the National League A . After only 18 games, the engagement there was over again, he was transferred to the league competitor, HC Lugano . There he ended the season before venturing overseas. With the New York Rangers , who had drafted him in the fourth row in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft , he signed an entry-level contract over three seasons. However , Andersson did not get a job in the National Hockey League . Instead, he spent the first season and a half of his contract in the American Hockey League with the Hartford Wolf Pack .
At the beginning of the 2016/17 season , Andersson decided to return to Switzerland. He signed a contract with SC Bern until the end of the 2017/18 season . In his first season he won the Swiss championship with the Bernese team .
International
Andersson played his way through the junior selection of the Swedish national team . With the U18 juniors he won the silver medal at the 2012 World Cup . He made his senior team debut during the 2014/15 season.
