Alain Berger (born December 27, 1990 in Burgdorf ) is a Swiss ice hockey player who has been playing the right winger for SC Bern in the National League since December 2012 . He is the younger brother of Pascal Berger .
Career
Alain Berger began playing ice hockey in the junior department of the EHC Burgdorf . During his junior years, Berger moved to the youth department of SC Bern , for whose professional team he made his debut in the National League A in the 2007/08 season . In addition, he came in the same season in the National League B to nine appearances for the Swiss U20 national team and twenty appearances for the Young Sprinters Hockey Club . In the following season he played for SC Bern in the NLA, as well as for the U20 Juniors and the Young Sprinters Hockey Club in the NLB.
Berger ventured into North America in 2009 when he signed a contract with the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League after being voted 27th in the first round of the CHL Import Draft of the same year . The Bernese drew attention there with 85 scorer points in 109 games.
On April 8, 2011, Berger signed a three-year contract with the Montréal Canadiens . He could not fight for a regular place in preparation for the 2011/12 season and then played in Hamilton for the Canadiens' farm team . In December 2012 he was given a contract by SC Bern until the end of the 2013/14 season.
International
Alain Berger made his debut in the Swiss national team at the U18 World Junior Championship in 2008 . He also came to the U20 Junior World Championship Division I in 2009 to deploy.
