Simon Moser (born March 10, 1989 in Bern ) is a Swiss ice hockey player who has been under contract with SC Bern in the National League since July 2014 . His brother Christian Moser is also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Simon Moser began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth division of the SCL Tigers , for which he made his National League A debut in the 2007/08 season . The year before, he had become the top scorer of the Elite Jr. A , the highest junior league in Swiss ice hockey. In his first two years in the professional field the winger also came for the Swiss U-20 national ice hockey team and the HC Martigny in the National League B used. Since the 2009/10 season , Moser has only been on the ice for the SCL Tigers in the NLA. In 2011 he reached the play-offs for the first time in club history with the SCL Tigers . Moser was one of the main people responsible for this success. In 2012 he was invited to the training camp by the Chicago Blackhawks . At the 2012 World Cup he tore his cruciate ligament, which is why he had to cancel the training camp and was out for half a year.

After the team was relegated to the National League B in 2013 , Moser announced that he would be leaving the club. After an excellent World Cup in 2013 , he was invited to a training camp for an NHL team again , this time by the Nashville Predators . There he signed a one-year contract on September 30, 2013 and was subsequently mainly employed in the Predators' farm team, the Milwaukee Admirals . In July 2014 he signed a contract with SC Bern , with which he won the Swiss Cup in 2015 and the championship title a year later . The title could be defended in the following season. The last time the ZSC Lions succeeded in doing this was in 2001. In August 2017, Moser extended his contract for six more seasons and was appointed the new captain. The contract contained a release clause had he received an offer from an NHL club.

After SC Bern had won the NLA qualification in the 2017/18 season, the playoff semi-final was played against the ZSC Lions . In the 2018/19 season, SC Bern won the NLA qualification for the third time in a row. In the subsequent playoffs, the club won the 16th championship title in the club's history after three hard-fought series.

International

For Switzerland, Moser took part in the junior division in the U18 Junior World Championship 2007 and the U20 Junior World Championship in Division I in 2009 .

In the senior division, he was in his country's squad at the 2011 and 2012 World Championships in the top division . At the 2013 World Cup in Stockholm and Helsinki he was again part of the national team and won the silver medal with it. He then represented the Confederation at the 2014 and 2016 World Championships . He also played for his colors at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi . The striker won another silver medal at the 2018 World Cup .
