Koitere is a 163.7 km² lake in the municipality of Ilomantsi in the Finnish landscape of North Karelia .
The lake is at a height of 143.4 m . There are countless islands in the lake. The outflow of the Koitere flows after a short distance into the Koitajoki , a tributary of the Pielisjoki . The Koitere belongs to the catchment area of Lake Pyhäselkä to the southwest , which in turn belongs to the Saimaa lake system.
The Patvinsuo National Park is on the north bank .
Koitere Lacus , a methane lake on Saturn's moon Titan , was named after Koitere.
