Kaillie Humphries (* 4. September 1985 in Calgary , Alberta as Kaillie Simundson ) is a Canadian Bobsportlerin .
Career
Kaillie Humphries lives in the city of her birth, Calgary, and began bobsleigh in 2002. She trains in Canada Olympic Park , her trainer is Stephan Bosch. In 2003 she graduated from the National Sport School . At first she was a brakeman for three years before starting as a pilot. In the Bobsleigh World Cup , Humphries made her debut in November 2004 at a race in Winterberg as Helen Upperton's brakeman . In Cesana Torinese , both of them achieved their first top ten result in tenth place in January 2005 . In December of that year they missed a first podium result in fourth place in Cortina d'Ampezzo . In 2006 she won silver with Helen Upperton at the Junior World Championships in Igls. From the following season , the Canadian started as a pilot in the European Bobsleigh Cup . Humphries won her very first race in December 2006 in Igls with the push- puller Kaylyn Best . A second victory followed in January 2007 in Winterberg, with Nadine Walker holding the brakes . A month later, she contested her first World Cup race as a pilot in the same place and came in 14th place. At the Junior World Championships in Altenberg she won silver as last year, but this time as a pilot with Jaime Cruickshank as the brakeman. In November 2007 she reached fourth place with Shelly-Ann Brown on her home track in Calgary for the first time a top ten result. In Lake Placid , Humphries drove Brown for the first time on the podium. The first major event was the 2008 Bobsleigh World Championship in Altenberg. In the two-man bobsleigh, Humphries finished fifth with Brown, in the team competition she won the silver medal with the Canadian team behind the German team. In the 2008/09 Bobsleigh World Cup she reached two second places and was seventh in the overall World Cup. At the 2009 Bobsleigh World Championships in Lake Placid, she was again fifth.
In December 2009 , Humphries won a World Cup race for the first time with Heather Moyse in Altenberg. In the races of the season, by the way, she always placed in the top six and came second in the overall World Cup behind Sandra Kiriasis . At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , their home country , Humphries and Moyse won the gold medal ahead of their teammates Helen Upperton and Shelley Brown and Erin Pac / Elana Meyers . Before the Winter Games, as a local athlete, she had been able to complete significantly more training runs than her competitors on the difficult track. In the following season , the duo reached third place in the overall World Cup and also bronze at the 2011 Bobsleigh World Championship at Königssee. In the 2011/12 season , three more World Cup victories followed with pushing Emily Baadsvik and at the 2012 Bobsleigh World Championships in Lake Placid, Humphries was first world champion together with Jennifer Ciochetti ; she also won bronze in the team competition. In the 2012/13 Bobsleigh World Cup , Humphries took podium finishes in all nine races of the season, including six wins, and thus won the overall standings ahead of Sandra Kiriasis and Cathleen Martini . She also defended her title at the World Championships in St. Moritz with Chelsea Valois and won the bronze medal with the team again. In winter 2013/14 followed by three more World Cup victories with Heather Moyse and Humphries won for the second time in a row the World Cup. At the end of the season, the duo Humphries / Moyse won gold again at the Olympic Games in Sochi , leaving the US teams Meyers / Williams and Greubel / Evans behind.
For the 2014/15 season, the international bobsleigh federation opened the four-man bobsleigh competitions for mixed teams and Kaillie Humphries became the first female pilot to take part in international four-man bobsleigh races alongside Elana Meyers Taylor. After starting at the North American Cup , where she achieved second place, she was allowed to start in the four-man bobsleigh World Cup in December 2014 and was 15th in her first race in Calgary. Five more races followed with a 14th place in Sochi as the best result of the season. In the two-man bobsleigh, she placed four times on the podium and came second in the overall standings behind Meyers Taylor. At the World Championships in Winterberg , she was seventh in the two-man, fourth with the team and 27th in the four-man bobsleigh. In the 2015/16 season, Humphries finished on the podium in all eight races of the season of the World Cup , taking four wins and winning the overall World Cup with a clear lead over Jamie Greubel Poser. At the World Championships in Igls, she and her regular pusher Melissa Lotholz won silver in the two-man bobsleigh and came fifth in the team competition.
The native Canadian competes for the US Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation since the 2019/20 World Cup season . The split was preceded by a harassment lawsuit by Humphries against a coach at the Canadian Association. Even under the US flag, Humphries was among the world's best and celebrated several World Cup victories.
Private
Humphries married the British-Canadian bobsledder Dan Humphries in 2007 . The couple is now divorced. In 2019 she married the US bobsleigh pilot Travis Armbruster.
