Bobsleigh World Championship 2012
The 58th Bobsleigh World Championship was held from February 13th to 26th, 2012 in Lake Placid , United States . After 1949, 1961, 1969, 1973, 1978, 1983, 2003 and 2009, Lake Placid hosted the Bobsleigh World Championship for the 9th time. In addition to 2009, the Skeleton World Championship was held in 1997.
St. Moritz was originally chosen as the venue on June 9, 2008 by the congress of the International Bobsleigh and Sledge Federation (FIBT) held in Chianciano Terme . On May 31, 2009, at the FIBT Congress in Moscow, the 2013 World Bobsleigh Championship was awarded to Lake Placid. However, the venues were changed in September 2010. The change was made for cost reasons, as a training week on the Olympic course in Krasnaya Polyana is planned for the end of the 2012/13 season and significantly lower transport costs are incurred from Switzerland.
