Bobsleigh World Championship 2011
The 57th Bobsleigh World Championship took place from February 14 to 27, 2011 in Königssee .
Cortina d'Ampezzo was actually supposed to host the world championships, but the world championships were relocated from the FIBT to the Königssee artificial ice rink at the beginning of 2009 , as the financing of the necessary renovation work on the track in Cortina and smooth organization could not be secured. The venue was chosen on June 2, 2007 by the Congress of the International Bobsleigh and Sled Federation (FIBT) held in London . The venue should have been the Eugenio-Monti-Bahn .
Originally, Cortina won the vote with 21:13 votes against the application from Winterberg (Germany). After 1937, 1939, 1950, 1954, 1960, 1966, 1981, 1989 and 1999, Cortina would have hosted the bobsleigh world championship for the tenth time.
The Bobsleigh World Championship took place parallel to the 2011 Skeleton World Championship .
