Bobsleigh World Championship 2017

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 62nd Bobsleigh World Championship took place from February 13th to 26th, 2017, parallel to the Skeleton World Championship 2017 , on the Königssee artificial ice rink on the Bavarian Königssee .

Award

The Sanki Sliding Center , built for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Krasnaya Polyana near Sochi , Russia , was originally intended as the venue . Based on the findings of the McLaren report on systematic doping in Russia published on December 9, 2016, the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (IBSF) withdrew the country from hosting both events on December 13. Both Latvia and South Korea had announced in advance that they would not participate in a World Cup in Sochi.

On December 19, 2016, the IBSF announced that the title fights had been awarded to Königssee. The track hosted the Bobsleigh World Championship in 1979, 1986, 2004 and 2011.
