Stephanie Schneider (born September 25, 1990 in Erlabrunn ) is a German bobsleigh athlete .

Life

Schneider began throwing disciplines in athletics in 2006. After a long injury-related absence, her trainer advised her to do a bobsleigh trial at SC Potsdam because of her good strength values, which brought her to bobsleigh.

At the 2011 Bobsleigh World Championship , Schneider won the team competition as Sandra Kiriasis' pusher together with the men's bobsleigh from Francesco Friedrich and Florian Becke and the skeleton pilots Mirsad Halilovic and Marion Thees . In 2014 she finished 10th as Anja Schneiderheinze's pusher at the Olympic Games in Sochi . At the 2015 World Championships she won the bronze medal as a pusher for Cathleen Martini .

As a pilot, Schneider contested her first World Cup race on February 6, 2016 in St. Moritz . In 2016 she also became Junior World Champion. In the 2016/17 World Cup season she contested three races, the best place was a fourth place. In the winter of 2017/18 , she achieved her first podium finish on November 9, 2017 with third place in Lake Placid . On December 9, 2017, she won her first race in Winterberg with Lisa Buckwitz , which was followed by further victories in Innsbruck - which also meant the European championship - and in Königssee , each with Annika Drazek . In the overall World Cup ranking, she finished fifth. At the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang , Schneider finished fourth despite muscular problems and an ankle injury from Drazek.
