Cathleen Martini (born May 27, 1982 in Zwickau ) is a former German bobsleigh pilot and was part of the German national women's bobsleigh team.

Career

Martini worked in luge from 1992 to 2000 , after which she switched to bobsleigh. In 2003, 2007, 2008 and 2009 she took second place at the German championships in the two-man bobsleigh. In the 2000/01 season she won the overall Junior World Cup. At the Bobsleigh World Championships, she finished second three times and third once. She won first place three times and second place three times at the European Bobsleigh Championships . Junior World Champion was 2006 in Innsbruck- Igels. In 2005, 2008, 2009 she took second place, 2007 and 2010 third place in the overall World Cup. After the 2008/09 season, long-time pushing Janine Tischer joined Sandra Kiriasis' team . For this, their pusher Romy Logsch switched to Cathleen Martini's team. In 2012 Janine Tischer returned to Cathleen Martini's team.

In 2010 Martini caused an accident due to a driving error in the fourth run of the Olympic two-man bobsleigh competition in Vancouver , in which the two-man bobsleigh overturned and her pusher Romy Logsch was thrown out of the bobsleigh.

At the 2011 Bobsleigh World Championships at Königssee, Martini and her pusher Romy Logsch won the world title in the two-man bobsleigh for the first time. In the 2011/2012 season , Cathleen Martini achieved her first overall World Cup victory here.
