Lauren Gibbs (born March 2, 1984 in Los Angeles ) is an American bobsleigh driver . She took in 2018 for the USA at the Olympic Winter Games and won with Elana Meyers the silver medal in the Two-Woman. In 2020 she and Kaillie Humphries became world champion in the women's two-man bobsleigh at the Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Championships.

Career

Former volleyball player Lauren Gibbs made her debut as a pusher in an international competition on November 13, 2014 in the North American Cup. At the Park City competition, she took fourth place as a pusher for Jazmine Fenlator . One day later she was active as a pusher for Jamie Greubel Poser's bobsleigh and celebrated her first win in the North American Cup. They won ahead of Mica Mcneill's and Katelyn Kelly's . After the two appearances, she was also used in the 2014/15 World Cup . She completed her first competition on December 13, 2014 as the pusher for Jamie Greubel Poser and the two took third place in the US triple success behind the bobs of Elana Meyers Taylor and Jazmine Fenlator. At the end of the season, she took part in the 2015 Bobsleigh World Championship in Winterberg as Jamie Greubel Poser's pusher , and the two finished fifth. In addition, the two were also part of the US team, which took seventh place in the mixed team competition.

At the 2017 Bobsleigh World Championships she was Brittany Reinbolt's pusher and took twelfth place on the Königssee ice rink with her . After the world championships, the first competition on the 2018 Olympic track took place on March 18, 2017 in the Olympic Sliding Center . Together with Brittany Reinbolt, Lauren Gibbs took eleventh place.

In the 2017/18 Olympic season, Lauren Gibbs, as Elana Meyers Taylor's pusher, took second place in the first competition in Lake Placid on the Mount Van Hoevenberg Olympic bobsleigh track, behind Kaillie Humphries ' bobsleigh and in front of Stephanie Schneider's bobsleigh . On November 17, 2017, she celebrated her second World Cup victory. You and the pilot Jamie Greubel Poser won the World Cup in Park City . As a pusher for Elana Meyers Taylor, she came second and third in Winterberg and Königssee . Lauren Gibbs and Elana Meyers Taylor were nominated by the United States Olympic Committee for the 2018 Winter Olympics . After four runs, they finished second behind Mariama Jamanka's German bobsleigh and Kaillie Humphries' Canadian bobsleigh.

In the 2018/19 season , Lauren Gibbs was active as a pusher for Elana Meyers Taylor and Brittany Reinbolt . On January 26, 2019, she and Elana Meyers Taylor won the Olympia Bobrun St. Moritz – Celerina for the second time , ahead of Stephanie Schneider and Mariama Jamanka's bobsleds . At the following World Cup in Calgary , they finished second behind Mariama Jamanka's bob and in front of Stephanie Schneider's bob. At the 2019 Bobsleigh World Championships at the Whistler Sliding Center , she was Brittany Reinbolt's pusher and the two finished fifth. After the World Cup season, Lauren Gibbs started in Lake Placid in two monobob competitions and finished in seventh and eighth place.

For the 2018/19 season she was the pusher for Kaillie Humphries , who switched from the Canadian association to the US association. The two started at the North American Cup and finished second and third in the two competitions in Lake Placid . The 2018/19 Bobsleigh World Cup also started in Lake Placid and the two were able to compete on December 7th, 2019 in front of Stephanie Schneider and Kim Kalicki 's bobsleigh, and the competition on December 14th, 2017 in front of Kim Kalicki and Christine ’s bobsleigh de Bruin . On February 1, 2020, Kalie Humphries and Lauren Gibbs celebrated their third joint World Cup success. In St. Moritz they won ahead of Mariama Jamanka and Stephanie Schneider 's bobsleighs .

At the Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Championships 2020 in Altenberg, Lauren Gibbs and Kaillie Humphries started as favorites in the women's two-man bobsleigh and they lived up to their role. After four runs, the two secured the world title ahead of Kim Kalicki's German bobsleigh and Christine de Bruin's Canadian bobsleigh . While it was the first world title for Lauren Gibbs, Kaillie Humphries won her third world title after 2012 and 2013.
