Career

Career as a track and field athlete

Before Kira Lipperheide switched to bobsleigh , she was an athlete for TV Gladbeck in 1912 . In 2018 she started in the Frankenstadion Heilbronn for her club in the 4 x 100 meter relay at the German junior athletics championships and was able to win the silver medal with the relay. A little later she also started at the German Athletics Championships 2018 in the Max-Morlock-Stadion in Nuremberg and took seventh place with the relay from TV Gladbeck in the final bill. Although Kira Lipperheide was changed to that date already for Bobsleigh she joined in 2019. Both German Junior Championships and in the Olympic Stadium in Berlin at the German Track and Field Championships in the 4 x 100-meter relay from the TV Gladbeck on.

Career as a bobsledder

In 2018, Kira Lipperheide did the same as her club colleague Annika Drazek and switched from athletics to bobsleigh . She became a pusher and since then, like Annika Drazeck, has been part of Mariama Jamanka's team . She completed her first international competition on January 10, 2019 as Kim Kalicki's pusher in the 2018/19 European Cup . In the competition, the two won ahead of Laura Nolte's and Breeana Walker's bobsled . A day later, the two were able to win the second competition in Innsbruck . Shortly afterwards, Kira Lipperheide was allowed to make her World Cup debut as Mariama Jamanka's pusher on January 19, 2019 on the artificial ice rink Bob-Rodel Igls in Innsbruck, where she and Mariama Jamanka reached behind Stephanie Schneider's bobsleigh and Elana Meyers Taylor's bobsleigh the second place.

On February 2, 2019, Kira Lipperheide was again active as a pusher for Kim Kalicki and the two started at the Junior World Championships on the Königssee artificial ice rink . In the competition they took third place behind the Austrian bobsled by Katrin Beierl and the Romanian bobsled by Andreea Grecu . The two Germans were also rated in the U23 classification and were able to win the junior world championship in this.

In the 2019/20 season , Kira Lipperheide was able to win a World Cup race for the first time as Stephanie Schneider's pusher . On January 4, 2020 in the Veltins-Eisarena in Winterberg, the two won the German triple victory in front of Mariama Jamanka's bobsleigh and Laura Nolte's bobsleigh . In St. Moritz on the Olympia Bobrun St. Moritz – Celerina she was able to take the podium together with Mariama Jamanka on February 1, 2020 and took second place behind the bobsleigh by Kaillie Humphries and ahead of the bobsleigh by Stephanie Schneider.

On February 8, 2020, she and Kim Kalicki competed at the Junior World Championships, which were held in Winterberg, just like a year before. They secured the junior world championship title in front of the Russian bobsleigh by Lyubow Tschernych and the Chinese bobsleigh by Ying Qing , both in the “normal” classification and in the U23 classification. This secured them a personal right to start at the 2020 World Championships in Altenberg . At the world championships on the Altenberg sledge and bobsleigh track , the two surprisingly won the silver medal behind the American Kaillie Humphries' bobsleigh and in front of the Canadian Christine de Bruin's bobsled .
