Tina Hermann (born March 5, 1992 in Ehringshausen ) is a German skeleton athlete . She is five times world champion in skeleton.

Career

Tina Hermann lives in Bischofswiesen and starts for WSV Königssee . She started playing skeleton in 2007. She made her debut in the European Skeleton Cup at the start of the 2008/09 season in Winterberg , where she was seventh. In her fourth race in Igls , Hermann finished second behind Jelena Judina and thus achieved a podium finish for the first time. A day later she repeated the success. In the overall ranking of the season, she finished fourth. In none of her eight races of the season she finished less than seventh. In the 2009/10 season Hermann only contested two races in the European Cup: She came in second behind Michelle Bartleman in Cesana Torinese and was third in the last race of the season in St. Moritz . The highlight of the season was the 2010 Junior World Championships, where she won the title ahead of Sarah Reid and Janine Flock . The 2010/11 season began with a race in the America's Cup in Park City , in which Hermann finished sixth. This was followed by repeated appearances in the European Cup , where she finished second behind Jacqueline Lölling in the first two races . In Altenberg there were two more second places behind Sarah Sartor . In the remaining four races, she narrowly missed the podium twice in fourth place; worst grades were sixth places. Because of this consistency, she won the overall ranking of the European Cup of the season ahead of Elizabeth Yarnold and Jacqueline Lölling. At the Junior World Championships in 2011, she finished sixth.

Tina Hermann also started in the European Cup in the 2011/12 season . She finished in the top five in six of the eight races of the winter, won a European Cup race for the first time in Altenberg and again secured overall victory at the end of the season, this time ahead of Lena Joch and Robynne Thompson . At the Junior World Championships 2012 in Igls she was tenth. The following winter it was used for the first time in the Intercontinental Cup. In the eighth of the nine races of the season, she celebrated her first win in this racing series, which was her only podium of the winter. In the overall standings, she finished in fifth place after positions between 4th and 16th in the other races. In December 2012 she was also sixth at the Junior World Championships 2013. At the beginning of the 2013/14 season Tina Hermann started twice in the European Cup , where she won the first two races of the season in Altenberg. Then she was used in the Intercontinental Cup. In the course of the season she drove three times to rank 2 and otherwise achieved placements between rank 5 and 8. With these performances she was able to celebrate the overall victory in the final standings before Robynne Thompson and Rose McGrandle . At the 2014 Junior World Championships she was again sixth.

For the 2014/15 season Tina Hermann was the first time for the World Cup qualifying. She made her debut with fourth place in Lake Placid and already finished third in the second race of the season in Calgary with third place. At the 2015 German Championships in Winterberg, she won silver behind Jacqueline Lölling. In the course of the season she always placed in the top six in the World Cup and came third in the overall standings. At the 2015 Skeleton World Championship in Winterberg, she was world champion in team competition and fifth in individual. At the first race of the season of the 2015/16 World Cup in Altenberg, she finished second again on the podium and celebrated her first World Cup victories at the next two races in Winterberg and Königssee . In addition, she became German champion for the first time in Altenberg at the end of 2015 , clearly setting herself apart from the competition with 1.24 seconds. At the World Cups in North America, she achieved further victories in Park City and Whistler in January 2016 . Then she won silver at the European Championships in St. Moritz behind Janine Flock . At the World Championships in Igls, she won the gold medal both individually and with the team. At the end of the season at Königssee she won again and also won the overall World Cup. She then won the 2019 Skeleton World Championship and the 2020 Skeleton World Championship .
