Bulo Hawo - also Belet Xaavo - is a Somali city in the Gedo province on the border with Kenya and Ethiopia .
The city is located in the catchment area of the Giuba , about 210 meters above sea level in an arid region that is used intensively for agriculture. At the beginning of the Somali civil war , Bulo Hawo still had around 60,000 inhabitants. In January 2011, most residents were still on the run to neighboring countries and the hinterland. Around 7500 residents remain in the no man's land between Somalia and Kenya.
