Diana Sartor

Diana Sartor (born November 23, 1970 in Dippoldiswalde , GDR ) is a former German skeleton driver .

Sports career

In 2003, Sartor came second at the European Championship in St. Moritz , Switzerland. In 2004 she became both European and World Skeleton Champion . The following year she won bronze at the 2005 European Championships in Altenberg . At the Olympic Games, she finished fourth in Salt Lake City in 2002 and in Turin in 2006 , just short of a medal. She ended her active career after the Olympic Games in Turin, but planned a return to the 2007/08 season for the 2008 World Cup on her home track in Altenberg . However, she could no longer qualify because the competition in the German women's team was too great. At the opening of the world championship, Sartor announced that she would only participate as a track sledge driver.

After the sport

In 2003 Sartor met her husband Steffen Skel , a former world-class luge athlete, to whom she has been married since 2010. Together they have two children, a girl and a boy. In October 2008, Sartor qualified for the show Lanz cooks through Die Küchenschlacht ! .

Since she left competitive German sport in 2008, Sartor has been working for the Free Voters in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district council. For the 2013 federal election she ran as a direct candidate for Free Voters in constituency 158 , was defeated by Klaus Brähmig and had the fifth most of nine candidates with 5.8% of the first votes.

In April 2014, Sartor and her niece Sarah Sartor took part in the VOX documentary My Heavenly Hotel with the Pension Sartor in Bärenfels .
