Steffi Jacob

Steffi Jacob (born December 30, 1975 in Schmalkalden ) is a German skeleton pilot . She is also known by her maiden name, Steffi Hanzlik .

Steffi Jacob went down in the history of skeleton sport when she won the first women's World Cup race in Königssee in 1996 . She also won the overall World Cup of this first season in 1996/97. In 1997/98 she was second behind Maya Pedersen-Bieri , in 1998/99 she won a second time. In the 2000/01 season she was second again behind Alexandra Coomber . She was able to win world cup races nine times. In the 1998/99 season she won all four races in the series.

In 2000 she also became the first world champion in the Skelton in Igls . The following year in Calgary , she narrowly missed another medal in fourth, and in 2005 in Altenberg she was fifth. The European Championship in 2003 in St. Moritz , she finished in sixth, one year later in Altenberg, she won silver. Another high point in his career was taking part in the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , where skeleton was the first women's Olympic event . Here she came in seventh.

At the German Championships in Altenberg in 2002 she was runner- up behind Diana Sartor , and in 2003 she became champion. In 2004 in Königssee she was again, this time behind Kerstin Jürgens runner-up, in 2006 fourth in Winterberg. She is trained by Jens Müller .
