Career

Shelley Rudmans started for Team Bath and lives in Pewsey . She was trained for the track by her future husband Kristan Bromley, Richard Bromley and herself, and by Mark Campbell for endurance. In 2002 she began playing skeleton. Her first successes were at the national level. In 2004 and 2005 she became British champion. She first drew international attention at the end of 2004 when she won a European Skeleton Cup race in Igls . At the beginning of 2005 she beat all competitors on the same track and won the Winter Universiade 2005 in her discipline. She surprisingly celebrated her first really big success when she became vice European champion behind Maya Pedersen-Bieri in early 2006 in St. Moritz . This was followed by fourth place in St. Moritz and sixth place in Altenberg for the first time notable results in the World Cup. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , she surprisingly won the silver medal a month later. The 2007/08 season did not begin until the beginning of 2008 and only in the newly created Skeleton Intercontinental Cup , because in October 2007 she gave birth to her first child - father is her partner Kristan Bromley . She was able to quickly build on her earlier achievements and climb back into the World Cup. In December Rudman won her first World Cup race in Igls. In 2009 she won her first title at the European Skeleton Championship in St. Moritz. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , she reached sixth place. In the 2008/09 seasons behind Marion Trott , in 2009/10 behind Mellisa Hollingsworth-Richards and in 2010/11 behind Anja Huber , she was runner-up in the overall World Cup three times in a row. She also won two races of the season. In 2011 Rudman again won the title at the European Championships in Winterberg . She finished fourth at the 2011 World Cup .

In the winter of 2011/12, Rudman started with a fifth place in Innsbruck-Igls. On January 7, 2012, she finished third on the podium in Altenberg. A little later she secured victory at Königssee. In St. Moritz she celebrated another second place. She was also on the podium in Whistler and Calgary. At the 2012 World Cup she was fourth in the singles and seventh with the mixed relay. A little later she celebrated her first and only overall World Cup victory. In the 2012/13 season she celebrated another win in Winterberg. At the Skeleton World Championship in St. Moritz in 2013 , she won her first and only world championship. She could no longer build on this success. Only at the beginning of 2014 did she get two third places in the World Cup. After the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , where she finished 16th in the individual, she ended her active career.
