Lindsay Alcock

Lindsay Alcock (born October 8, 1977 in Calgary , Alberta ) is a former Canadian skeleton pilot .

Alcock lives in Calgary and was trained by Teresa Schlachter. She began her international career in November 2000 when she won an America's Cup race. A year later she started the World Cup for the first time in Königssee and finished third. In December of that year, she won her first World Cup race in Calgary . The 2001/02 season she finished third in the overall World Cup. In 2002/03 she was second and in 2003/04 she won the overall World Cup. In 2004/05 she was fourth. In the 2007/08 season she won the overall standings of the newly created Skeleton Intercontinental Cup and won three of the six races of the season.

In 2002 she took part in the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and finished sixth. In Koenigssee she won the silver medal behind Diana Sartor at the 2004 World Championships , and the following year in Calgary she was sixth. At the Canadian Championships she won the title in 2004 and 2005, silver in 1999 and bronze in 2001. After elimination races within the Canadian team for the 2008/09 season, she ended her career in November 2008. In total she took part in 34 World Cup races, six of which she won. Alcock is an athlete ambassador for the development aid organization Right to Play .
