Lanette Preacher (born August 29, 1979 in Oxbow , Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian skeleton pilot .

Career

Lanette Preacher lives in Calgary with her husband, Alexis Morris , who is also a skeleton pilot . She studied medicine at the University of Calgary and has been an emergency physician since 2008 . Preacher began playing skeleton in 2007 after watching the 2006 Olympics on television.

Her first race in the performance area she contested in the context of the Canadian Championships in 2008, in which she was tenth. In the 2008/09 season she made her international debut in the European Skeleton Cup . She contested her first race in Winterberg and finished eleventh. In the two following races in Altenberg , she achieved her first top ten results in seventh place. In January 2009 she achieved a podium finish for the first time in St. Moritz with third place. In the overall ranking of the European Cup she came in seventh place. The following season she competed in the America's Cup . In her very first race in Park City , Prediger only narrowly missed a first place on the podium when she finished fourth. In the following race she was disqualified and in the third race at Park City she just missed the win against Jaclyn LaBerge . The following two races in Calgary Preacher won on their home track. In six of their seven races, the worst result was fourth place. In the overall standings of the season Prediger came second behind LaBerge. In the following season , five podium finishes were added, including victories in the last three races of the season. In the overall standings, she pushed past LaBerge and won.

In the 2011/12 season, Prediger won her first medal at Canadian Championships with silver. She started in the Intercontinental Cup for the first time and was able to achieve placements among the top 10 in all eight races of the season, including a third place in Lillehammer . In the overall standings she finished fourth when Rose McGrandle won. In the following season she was third in the national championships and went back to the Intercontinental Cup at the start. There she was able to come in third again, but after double-digit results in three races she only finished ninth in the overall standings. Even 2013/14 was Lanette Prediger in Intercontinental in action, but participated only in four races and finished 18th in the standings the following winter she won the Canadian championships again silver and qualified as winner of the elimination race for the World Cup . She won two races of the European Cup before making her World Cup debut in December 2014, finishing 11th in Lake Placid . In the second race she already achieved her first top 10 place with rank 7 and celebrated her best result of the season with fourth place in St. Moritz. In the overall standings she finished ninth and at the World Championships in Winterberg she was tenth. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season she took part in the Intercontinental Cup and celebrated her first victory in this competition in the third race of the season in Whistler .
