Tristan Gale

Tristan Gale (born August 10, 1980 in Ruidoso ) is an American skeleton pilot .

Tristan Gale began her senior skeleton career in 2000 by competing in the US Championships, where she finished fourth. In December of that year, she won two America's Cup races in Park City and Lake Placid . In November 2001 she made her debut in a race in Königssee in the World Cup and was 12th there. In the second race shortly afterwards in Igls , she came eighth for the first time in the top 10.

In January 2002 she qualified for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City by winning three of the four qualifying races of the US team. At the Games, she became the first female skeleton Olympic champion. In November 2002, she also won her first and so far only World Cup race in Park City.

In 2003 she competed at the Junior World Championships in Königssee, but had to admit defeat to Julia Eichhorn and Lyndsie Peterson . At the Senior World Championships shortly afterwards in Nagano , she won bronze again. In the period that followed, Gale's performance at the international level became somewhat weaker. At the 2004 World Championships in Königssee, she was only ninth. She could no longer qualify for any of the following major events.
