Before the season started, she ran a fundraising campaign to raise Canadian $ 20,000 that she needed for tech and travel expenses. In her first World Cup on December 12, 2014 in Lake Placid, Maier finished second behind Brit Elizabeth Yarnold . Two more second places followed in St. Moritz and Igls ; with two exuberant races, she finished 10th in the overall standings. At the 2015 Skeleton World Championship in Winterberg, Maier won bronze in the individual and came fourth in the team competition. In the 2015/16 World Cup winter , Maier was unable to match the outstanding results of her debut season, but thanks to her participation in all races of the season, with placings between 6 and 13 in the overall World Cup, she climbed one place to 9th place. In the following season she won two World Cups in the first race in Whistler and the fourth race in Winterberg , which led to fifth place in the overall World Cup ranking. She finished sixth at the 2017 World Championships .

She finished the 2017/18 World Cup season in third place overall. At the subsequent Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , she finished ninth. She then married the Austrian bobsleigh driver Benjamin Maier in Hawaii .
