European Skeleton Championship 2009
The 15th Skeleton Championship was on 16 and 17 January 2009 on the bob run of St. Moritz discharged. It was held parallel to the fifth race of the 2008/09 World Cup .
As the European Championship was held during a World Cup, the World Cup rules applied to the race. Two medals each went to Great Britain, Germany and Switzerland. The titles were won for the first time by the British Shelley Rudman and the German Frank Rommel . The runner-up title goes to an athlete from the other nation. Bronze went to Switzerland in both races.

At the start of the World Cup, there were 21 athletes, nine of them European, who competed for the title of European Champion. The numbers in brackets indicate the placements of the World Cup race that was also ranked. Michaela Glässer competed outside of the World Cup, she was only rated for the European Championship. Shelley Rudman won her first title. Anja Huber, defending champion of the two previous title fights, could not cope with the train in St. Moritz and only came in fifth.

The numbers in brackets indicate the placements of the World Cup race that was also ranked. Grégory Saint-Géniès competed outside of the World Cup, she was only rated for the European Championship. Only the best 20 starters from the first run qualified for the second run. Frank Rommel won the title for the first time, last year's winner Bromley was runner-up.
