Michaela Gläßer

Michaela Gläßer (born January 8, 1983 in Rodewisch ) is a German-Czech skeleton pilot .

Michaela Gläßer began playing skeleton in 2001. The athlete, who lives in Nová Ves nad Nisou and Horgen and competed temporarily for BSC Munich , today for WSV Königssee , competes internationally for the Czech Republic. She has been a member of the Czech national team since 2007. She is trained by Pavel Lubas.

In 2001 Gläßer was third at the German youth championships and eleventh at the German championships for the first time. A year later she was seventh and 12th in the same competitions, fourth and ninth in 2004, sixth and 13th in 2005. Gläßer only made her international debut after joining the Czech national team in November 2007 as 14th in Igls as part of the European Skeleton Cup . In the second race she was fifth in Königssee and among the top ten. In addition, she started in races in the framework of the Skeleton Intercontinental Cup and the Skeleton America's Cup . Gläßer finished in the top ten in five international races in the 2007/08 season. In the overall ranking of the European Cup she came in seventh place. The highlight of the season was the first participation in the Skeleton World Championships in Altenberg , where Gläßer was 23rd. In the 2008/09 season Gläßer took full part in the Intercontinental Cup series and achieved her best result of the season with 11th place in Königssee. In the overall ranking of the ICC she was 13th. At the subsequent World Championship in Lake Placid, she finished 24th.
