WSV Königssee

The WSV Königssee is a winter sports club from Schönau am Königssee . In the club you can practice luge , skeleton , bobsleigh , ice stock sport , snowboarding and alpine skiing .

The WSV Königssee was founded in December 1951 by a group of sports enthusiasts. Currently (as of November 2007) the association has more than 950 members, including more than 320 children and young people. The WSV is one of the most successful winter sports clubs in the world. Olympic champions, world champions, European champions, world cup winners and German champions have come and will come from its ranks. The club has already organized several major events (10 world, 8 European and soon 50 other events such as German championships and world cup races).

The most successful and well-known athletes of the club include Susi Erdmann , Rudi Lochner and Markus Zimmermann , Sepp Dosthaler and Mike Sehr , Georg Heibl and Fritz Ohlwärter , Jakob Resch and Walter Barfuss , Christian Schebitz , Peter Hell , Nicole Herschmann , Benjamin Mielke , Andreas Udvari and Karl Angerer , in luge sport Barbara Niedernhuber , Gabi Bender , Margit Paar , Robert Fegg , Patric Leitner , Sepp Lenz , Gerhard Böhmer , Stefan Hölzlwimmer , Constanze Zeitz and Tobias Arlt . Successful athletes in the alpine skiing area include Peter Roth , Steffi Luckmeier , Jendrek Stanek , Ellen Hild and Klaus Brandner , the skeleton area is or was successfully represented by Willi Schneider , Florian Grassl , Steffi Hanzlik , Mirsad Halilovic , Thomas Platzer and Kerstin Jürgens .
