Gabi Bender
Gabriele "Gabi" Bender (born June 29, 1978 in Berchtesgaden ) is a former German luge athlete .
Gabi Bender has been racing luge since 1988. The WSV Königssee athlete has been a member of the German national team since 1994. She belonged to the extended world elite, but was mostly in the shadow of other German tobogganers. The European Championship 2000 she finished fifth. At the Luge World Championships 2000 in St. Moritz , she finished fifth again, securing a historic five-fold triumph for Germany. A year later , she finished sixth in Calgary . At the European Championships in 2002, Bender took eighth place. After she could no longer qualify for the World Cup team for the 2004/05 World Cup season after the previous season as fifth in the qualification in the strong German team, she ended her career.
