Life

Karl Angerer from WSV Königssee has been involved in bobsleigh since 1999 . He began his international career in 2003 with fourth place in the two-man bobsleigh and second place in the four-man bobsleigh at the Junior World Championships in Königssee . The following year he was third in both classes at the same competition in Cortina d'Ampezzo .

In 2004 Angerer made his debut in the European Cup. The sports soldier won in Igls with the four and came third with the two. In the following season he won again with the two in Igls and was second in the two in Königssee. He qualified for the World Cup and made his debut there at the race in Igls, but was only 12th and sent back to the European Cup. That season followed in the European Cup with a second place (four) in Winterberg and a third place in St. Moritz (four). At the German Junior Championships, he was German champion in both classes in 2005. Angerer seriously injured his cervical vertebra in a fall in Cortina during the season.

In the 2005/06 season, Angerer only started in the European Cup and won races in Igls (four-man) and Königssee (two-man and four-man). After two third places in the German championship, he advanced to the World Cup. After a seventh place in Königssee (four), a fifth (two) and fourth place in Altenberg followed in Altenberg . In the following season Angerer and his team made the breakthrough in the World Cup and into the top of the world. In Königssee he finished second in the two-man bobsleigh with pusher Marc Kühne behind the Canadian and reigning world champion Pierre Lueders and his pusher Lascelles Brown , after he even finished the first run in first place. The following day he was also third in the four-man bobsleigh. Angerer qualified for a qualifying race against Matthias Höpfner for the second German starting place next to André Lange at the 2007 World Cup in St. Moritz. At the second race of the 2008/09 season in Altenberg , Angerer was able to surprisingly win the World Cup race in a large sled, benefiting from the second round being canceled after a fall. He achieved his second victory in the four on January 11, 2009 on his home track in Königssee .

The Angerers team in the 2009/10 season includes Gregor Bermbach , Alexander Mann , Alexander Rödiger and the substitute Andreas Bredau . Alexander Rödiger switched to André Lange's team due to René Hoppe's injury , so that Andreas Bredau moved up to the Angerer's four-man bobsleigh team for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver . Karl Angerer started in the two-man bobsleigh with his brakeman Gregor Bermbach. On February 20, 2010 they were 11th after the 1st run and moved up to 10th after the 2nd run. On February 21, 2010, Angerer and Bembach improved to 9th place after the 3rd run, which they also defended in run 4. In the four-man bobsleigh, Bredau, Mann and Bermbach were the pushers when Angerer steered the sled into seventh place. In the following season, after the resignation of André Lange and Manuel Machata, Angerer developed new competition from their own camp. Nevertheless, he prevailed at the second World Cup station in Calgary and won his first World Cup race in the two-man bobsleigh. He was also on the podium several times with his pushers at other competitions. On January 8, 2010 he won his first German championship title - together with Alexander Mann in a double when he relegated Thomas Florschütz and Oliver Harraß to the places in Winterberg .

The team was trained by Hans Wimmer and Sven Rühr (athletics). Angerer is married to the former biathlete Kathrin Pfisterer . Angerer ended his career in September 2012 for family reasons. Since 2013 he has been the coach of the juniors of the BSD.
