Andreas Bredau

Andreas Bredau (born March 21, 1984 in Burg near Magdeburg ) is a German bobsledder who is active as a pusher.

Life

Andreas Bredau began his winter sports career in 2005 after having previously been a discus thrower. In 2002 he was employed by the Federal Police . In the 2007 World Cup, he took two second places in the two-man bobsleigh. He also won a gold medal in the four-man bobsleigh at the 2010 Junior World Championships with pilot Manuel Machata . In the two-man bobsleigh, the two took second place. The 1.97 m tall Bredau has won the Intercontinental Cup six times as a pusher. At the 2010 Olympic Games he was a pusher in Karl Angerer's four-man bobsleigh . Bredau replaced Alexander Rödiger , who had previously switched to the Lange team . From March 2010, Bredau will have his pilot qualification checked at the bobsleigh school in Oberhof. For the 2010/11 season Bredau switched to pilot Manuel Machata's bobsleigh. With this he won his first World Cup race in the two-man bobsleigh at the start of the season in Whistler . As Manuel Machata's pusher, he became European champion in the four-man bobsleigh on January 23, 2011, and the quartet also won the world title on February 27, 2011.
