Werner Zahn (born November 15, 1890 in Wiesloch ; † January 1, 1971 in Wolfenbüttel ) was a German bobsleigh driver, racing driver, entrepreneur and pilot.

Werner Zahn completed his first flight in 1913, and later passed his field pilot examination. During the First World War he was part of Manfred von Richthofen's squadron . In the 1920s he drove motorcycle and car races. After the birth of his son Christian in 1926, Zahn was able to achieve several successes in bobsleigh: He became German champion in two-man and four-man bobsleigh in 1927 and in four-man bobsleigh in 1930. His greatest international success was winning the 1931 World Bobsleigh Championship in the four-man bobsleigh. At that time, Zahn had already taken over the management of the Schuberth works from Fritz Schuberth. At the 1932 Winter Olympics in Lake PlacidThe tooth-controlled bob flew out of a curve in the first training session. Zahn himself broke his forearm , his pusher Hans Mehlhorn suffered a fracture in his left hand , pusher Heinrich Rossner suffered a sprained spine. Only the third pusher, Helmut Hopmann, was still operational after the accident. Zahn was banned from starting, so that after 1928 he missed participation in the Olympic Games for the second time. Immediately before the start of the 1928 Winter Olympics , Zahn had already had a serious accident, his brakeman Werner Schröder was fatally injured. Zahn was unable to achieve further international successes. In the two-man bobsleigh, he was again German champion in 1933 , and was only nominated as a substitute for the 1936 Winter Olympics . At the Bobsleigh World Championship in 1938 , Zahn reached sixth place in the two-man bobsleigh, and in the same year he was once again German runner-up in the two-man bobsleigh.
