Arvis Vilkaste (born April 8, 1989 in Balvi ) is a Latvian bobsleigh athlete .

Career

In the 2013/14 season he won his first two World Cup races in the four-man bobsleigh in St. Moritz and Igls . At these World Cups he was active as a pusher for Oskars Melbārdis .

Arvis Vilkaste started at the 2014 Winter Olympics in the four-man bobsleigh as Oskars Melbārdis' pusher. Together with this, Daumants Dreiškens and Jānis Strenga he became Olympic champion . In the same formation, Vilkaste became European champion in 2015 and won bronze at the world championships . The following year he became world champion in the four-man bobsleigh in Igls , again with Melbārdis, Dreiškens and Strenga.

Before his career in bobsleigh, he was active as a track and field athlete. In 2008 he won the Latvian championships with the relay over 100 m.
